A line skirt: This is when the hem of the skirt flares
to an A line shape.
Back Yoke: At the top of skirts or shoulders of clothes
there is a fitted and shapely piece.
Boning: Boning is plastic paneling strips beneath the clothes
to add support and give the body added sculpt and shape.
Bustier: A top that is designed to add shape to the bustline.
Usually it is has no straps and paneled with elastic and plastic.
Chiffon: A strong yet lightweight plain weaved fabric made
of tight durable twists in yarn.
Crochet: A lace effect created with a hook and yarn on
a piece of clothing or footwear.
Duster:A coat used in summer that is long and used with
or without a hook or button fastener.
Empire Waist: When the waist of a top or dress will start
under the bustline.
Faux: Used with such items as pearls, leather and furs,
this word is French for imitation or replication.
Gathering: When material is bunched in an area by threads
that have been pulled together when stitching.
Halter Top: A usually backless garment with straps that
gather and tie at the back of the neck.
Jacquard: Opposite to printing a design on clothing, the
design is embroidered into the clothing to give it a raised edge.
Kimono: Long design like a coat that is tied in the middle
and usually with wide sleeves.
Lettuce Edge: an edge lining of small ruffle like on
hems and necklines.
Mandarin Collar: Resembles an Asian collar , that tends
to be short and straight band like.
Notched Collar:This is a design on the collar in 2 piece
and worn open.
Paisley: A Scottish like design with same based yarn colors
and is in a swirling print in either screen or woven.
Ruching: A slight gathered pleating around the border that
creates a ruffled or texture effect.
Shawl Collar: A collar with one piece that is form din
an elegant design that trails around the head.
Tankini: With the freedom of a bikini with lots of coverage
this is a beautiful two piece bathing suit.
Velour: Used to add interest on shirts or coats, it is
a smooth ruffled fabric piece of several fabrics and materials.
Voile: Usually used for summer clothing for women, it
is a soft and light fabric piece made of cotton, silk or wool.
Yoke: A garment that has a fitted piece on the top shoulders
made by a individual piece of fabric added across front and back.
